Built by people who have run this at scale

Most hosting is built for the average customer. We build for one.

SMTM Hosting designs, builds, and manages infrastructure for companies who have outgrown shared plans and off the shelf platforms. Every environment starts from a blank sheet, shaped around your application, your traffic, and where your product is actually headed next.

We don't sell plans. We design systems. Then we build them, run them, and keep them running.

What we build

Six disciplines. One team. Nothing off the shelf.

Every engagement is scoped around a specific system, not a product tier. The depth of each build is set by what your business actually needs, not by a menu we're trying to move you up.

01

Custom Infrastructure & Server Architecture

We design the underlying environment from the ground up: compute, storage, and networking laid out around your application's real usage pattern, not a generic tier someone else sized for the average customer. Most infrastructure problems we get called in to fix were never hardware problems. They were planning problems, made years earlier by someone sizing for a customer who wasn't you.

02

AI & Machine Learning Infrastructure

Model serving has different demands than a website, and we build for those demands directly: GPU backed inference environments, vector database hosting for retrieval augmented systems, and pipelines that keep latency and cost predictable as usage scales. We have watched teams discover their inference bill the hard way, after launch, with no plan to control it. We design that plan in from the start.

03

Web & Application Hosting

For high-traffic web platforms, SaaS products, and custom applications, we build hosting environments around the actual architecture of your codebase, whether that's a composable, headless setup or a more traditional monolith that simply needs to run faster and more reliably than a shared box allows.

04

Migration, Integration & Modernization

Moving off a generic host or an aging environment is where most infrastructure projects go wrong. We plan the migration around your actual dependencies, integrate the new environment with the tools you already rely on, and modernize what's worth modernizing, without a forced rebuild of everything at once.

Platform migration Legacy modernization Third-party integration
05

Managed Security & Compliance

Ongoing hardening, monitoring, and incident response, built into the environment from day one rather than layered on after something goes wrong. Where your business has specific compliance or data residency requirements, those requirements shape the architecture itself, not just a policy document.

Zero-trust hardening 24/7 monitoring Data residency & compliance
06

Infrastructure Consulting & Strategy

Sometimes the need isn't a build, it's a second opinion. We assess existing environments, map out where they'll break under growth, and lay out a roadmap your internal team or ours can execute against, priced and scoped around the assessment itself rather than a bundled sales pitch.

How an engagement runs

The same four stages, every time.

Not a sales funnel. This is the actual sequence a build goes through, from the first conversation to ongoing management, every time.

01

Assessment

We start by understanding what you're actually running today: the application, the traffic, the constraints, and where the current setup is costing you time or reliability.

02

Architecture

A specific design gets proposed for your system, not a plan pulled from a catalog, covering compute, data, security, and how it all fits your existing tools.

03

Build & Integrate

We build the environment, migrate what needs migrating, and integrate it with the systems your team already depends on, with minimal disruption to what's live.

04

Manage & Evolve

Once live, we keep managing it: monitoring, hardening, and adjusting the architecture as your traffic and product actually change over time.

Why not just use a standard host

Shelf plans are built for the average case. Most businesses aren't average.

Shared infrastructure means shared limits

Standard hosting tiers are sized for the median customer on that plan. We have seen what happens when your traffic, your AI workload, or your compliance requirement doesn't match that median: you overpay for headroom you don't use, or you hit a ceiling you never get to design around.

Templates can't anticipate your roadmap

A packaged plan is built to be sold to everyone, which means it can't be built around where your product is actually headed. Custom architecture is designed with your next eighteen months in mind, not just what's live today.

Support that knows the system

When something needs attention, you're talking to the team that designed your environment, not a rotating support queue reading from a script for a platform they didn't build.

One team, the whole lifecycle

Consulting, architecture, build, and ongoing management stay with the same team. Nothing gets handed off to a different vendor halfway through, and nothing gets designed in a vacuum from how it'll actually be operated.

What it's like to work with us

From teams who moved off shared platforms.

"They rebuilt our hosting around how our product actually scales, not a plan we had to bend our product to fit."

Growth-stage SaaS platform

"Our inference costs were unpredictable every month. SMTM redesigned the environment and now we can actually forecast it."

AI product team, applied ML startup

"The migration off our old provider was the smoothest infrastructure change we've been through. Nothing went down."

Director of Engineering, mid-market retail brand

"They act like an extension of our team, not a vendor we call when something breaks."

VP of Technology, enterprise services company

About SMTM Hosting

Built for businesses that outgrew the shelf.

SMTM Hosting exists for one reason: most infrastructure providers sell the same plan to every customer, and most growing businesses eventually run out of room inside it. We have spent years watching where that runs out first, in the traffic spike nobody sized for, the AI workload that broke a cost model built for a website, the migration that took down production because nobody mapped the dependencies first. We build the other way. Every engagement starts with a real assessment of what you're running, and ends with an environment designed specifically for it.

That approach applies across web, application, and AI infrastructure alike. We are not tied to one cloud provider or one hosting model, which means the architecture we recommend is the one that fits your system, not the one we happen to resell.

Darren Heller

Founder

Darren founded SMTM Hosting after years of watching good products get bottlenecked by infrastructure built for someone else's business. He and the SMTM team still work directly with clients from the first assessment through ongoing management, across hosting, AI systems, and application infrastructure. No account managers standing between you and the people who actually built your environment.
